Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cain Markewicz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bu Laia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Markewicz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Maino- All the above. Laia is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: ""E Ala E" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Cain Markewicz looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cain Markewicz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bu Laia! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laia swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Markewicz looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Markewicz throws a looping overhand right but Laia ducks down to avoid it. Markewicz misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Laia has Markewicz up against the cage in a clinch.
Markewicz tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Laia's elbow. Laia landing knees to the body.
Markewicz takes an elbow to the temple.
It looks like Cain Markewicz has been cut. Laia lands an elbow inside. Laia landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Laia lands a nice elbow from the clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Markewicz. Laia tries for a takedown. No joy.

Markewicz swings wildly with an uppercut but Laia uses good head movement to avoid it. Laia using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Oh Markewicz is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! A knee to the head by Laia.
Laia gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Laia lands a nice elbow. Laia has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Markewicz uses from the top position. Markewicz being controlled here momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laia is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Markewicz seems to have got his legs back now. Laia is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Laia perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Laia lands with a punch from half guard. Laia thows a huge punch but Markewicz dodges it nicely.
Laia slows the pace down in half guard. Laia missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Laia looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Markewicz avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Laia. Laia works his foot free and advances to mount. Laia takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. I looks like Laia might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Despite being in the dominant position, Bu Laia just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Markewicz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Laia as he jumps to the side. Laia throws a front kick that sends Markewicz stumbling back into the cage. Laia thows a body shot but no joy. Cain Markewicz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Markewicz throws a head kick that misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Markewicz has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Laia. Laia lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Markewicz looks to clinch and Laia counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Laia. Laia avoiding damage as Markewicz throws knees to the body.
Laia jumps into guard, dragging Markewicz to the mat.
Laia looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Laia looking for a sweep. Not yet Laia, not yet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Markewicz avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bu Laia dominated that round. The cut man is working on Cain Markewicz's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Laia will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Laia throws a left that rocks Markewicz and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Laia dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Markewicz regain composure!
Laia is looking to take a break and control but Markewicz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Laia is chipping away with strikes.
Laia has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Markewicz! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Laia landing shots from mount. Laia looking to control but Markewicz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Laia swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Markewicz is now in Laia's guard. A big mistake from Laia there, giving up the dominant position! Laia has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laia looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Markewicz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Laia swivels though and keeps the full guard. Markewicz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Laia manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Markewicz manages to get himself to full guard.
Laia slips nicely into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Laia is looking for a kimura but Markewicz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Laia to get the leverage. Laia wants to take a breather but Markewicz is having none of it. Laia is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Laia is keen to just control but Markewicz is a slippery customer. Laia is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Markewicz has managed to free his arm - good work. Markewicz is trying to escape back to his feet but Laia uses the scramble to pass into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laia works to advance to full mount. Markewicz defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Laia fails to move to back control. Laia looking to control but Markewicz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. BOOM! Laia connects with a massive shot to the dome!
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Laia landing punches. Laia landing strikes from the mount and Markewicz is in trouble! Markewicz has given up his back.
Markewicz defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Laia's arms. Markewicz covers up after that shot from Laia.
Markewicz is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Laia scores with punches and elbows. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bu Laia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Cain Markewicz's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Laia unloads a knee to the mid-section. Markewicz lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Laia with a knee to the head.

Laia has Markewicz pressed against the cage.
Laia pulls guard effortlessly. Laia is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Laia is trying to control the position but Markewicz postures up. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Markewicz is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Laia has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Markewicz is looking to defend but Laia has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Markewicz! Laia pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Markewicz taps out and this one is all over!
