Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michak Ropuia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Calib Mcdonald (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ropuia comes to the ring accompanied by Here comes the pain - Slayer. Mcdonald is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Jay-Z-Bring em Out. Michak Ropuia has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michak Ropuia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Calib Mcdonald! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ropuia throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mcdonald's waist but Mcdonald gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ropuia off to one side. Mcdonald is looking to clinch but Ropuia is avoiding it.
Mcdonald closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mcdonald lands in his opponent's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Ropuia is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mcdonald is aware though and is defending well. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Mcdonald stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ropuia swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ropuia is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ropuia had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mcdonald defends it easily. Ropuia is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mcdonald tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Mcdonald thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ropuia's head. Ropuia is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mcdonald pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mcdonald stands up and beckons Ropuia to join him on the feet. The fight stays on the outside here - Mcdonald looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Ropuia tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mcdonald sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ropuia somewhat. Calib Mcdonald seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mcdonald shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ropuia sprawls well. Ropuia wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mcdonald gets slowly back to his feet. Ropuia stuffs the takedown. Ropuia keeps the fight on the outside. Mcdonald shoots in but no luck this time. Michak Ropuia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Calib Mcdonald. Mcdonald is looking to clinch. Mcdonald closes the distance looking to clinch and Ropuia holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Mcdonald.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mcdonald tries to score a body lock takedown but Ropuia shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Mcdonald looks winded! Ropuia misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Ropuia swings wildly with an uppercut but Mcdonald uses good head movement to avoid it. Ropuia jumps into guard, dragging Mcdonald to the mat.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Ropuia avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ropuia has his foot on Mcdonald's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mcdonald works his way back into a safe position though. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mcdonald avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Mcdonald stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ropuia swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ropuia is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Ropuia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mcdonald can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Ropuia pushes a forearm under Mcdonald's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Mcdonald is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

A very excited looking Michak Ropuia made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
