PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Damien Lok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JJ Jamerson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Lok might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to pepper. Damien Lok has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damien Lok!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, JJ Jamerson!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jamerson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Lok throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jamerson was covering up waiting for the punch and Lok finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Jamerson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jamerson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lok. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lok throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Lok has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jamerson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lok controls the pace.
Lok keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jamerson's head.
Lok scoring with some ground and pound.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Jamerson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Lok slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jamerson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Lok trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Lok passes Jamerson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Lok controlling the action here.

Jamerson wants to get back to full guard.
Lok landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Lok with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Lok looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Jamerson wants to get back to full guard.
Jamerson looks winded!
Well, if Lok is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jamerson is not content to let Lok control the position.
Lok throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Lok tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jamerson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Damien Lok has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Jamerson tries to close the distance and clinch but Lok swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lok fails to land with a series of punches.
Jamerson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lok.
Jamerson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Lok.
Lok tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jamerson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Lok tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jamerson was well out of range. Poor timing from Lok.
Lok lands with a hook. Jamerson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Lok fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Lok counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Jamerson!

Lok scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jamerson to see if he's OK.
Lok takes a little break here. Jamerson wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Lok working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Lok tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jamerson is trying to improve his position.
Lok is putting a hurting on Jamerson here, landing some big shots from side control.
Lok wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jamerson keeps working.

Lok scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jamerson to see if he's OK.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jamerson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jamerson is letting Lok control him for a moment.
Lok lands a decent elbow from side control.
Lok working the ground and pound.
Lok is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Jamerson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Lok looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The referee asks Lok politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lok prefers to stall for the moment though.
Lok landing strikes.

Lok has hold of Jamerson's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Jamerson seems comfortable defending it but Lok has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Jamerson is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Jamerson is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Lok couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Damien Lok!
A relieved looking Damien Lok thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
