PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jacob Casillas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lancett Cridle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Cridle's choice of entrance music: Counterfeit by Limp Bizkit. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacob Casillas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lancett Cridle!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Casillas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Cridle is looking to reverse the position.
Cridle regains half guard.
Casillas thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cridle's head.
Casillas prevents Cridle from improving his position.

Cridle looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Cridle wants to improve his position but Casillas is controlling well.

Casillas postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Cridle to stand up.
Casillas looks to land a combination but Cridle avoids it well.
Casillas misses with a double jab.

Cridle scores a takedown into full mount!

Cridle is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Casillas has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Casillas!
Cridle looks gassed!

Cridle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Casillas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Casillas is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Casillas looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Cridle is looking for a triangle but Casillas pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Casillas in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Cridle lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Casillas!
Cridle wants to take Casillas's back but he can't do it this time.

Casillas is desperately trying to improve his position but Cridle has a good base and remains in mount.
Casillas regains half guard.

Casillas is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Cridle pulls his head out easily.

Cridle is looking for a kimura here.
Cridle is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Casillas!

Cridle moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Casillas has worked his arm free - good work by Casillas!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jacob Casillas will probably get the nod.
That's time! Casillas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Cridle is looking to pass Casillas's guard but actually Casillas recovers to full guard.

Cridle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Cridle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Cridle prevents Casillas from getting back to his feet.

Cridle postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Casillas is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cridle, into his guard.
Cridle is breathing heavily.

Cridle has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Casillas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Casillas drops back looking for a leg! Cridle is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cridle manages to kick Casillas off! Casillas jumps back into Cridle's guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Cridle utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Cridle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Casillas tries to bum rush Cridle with a series of wild strikes but Cridle uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Casillas misses with the combination.

Casillas fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Casillas takes a swing at Cridle's ribcage but misses.
Cridle shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

and Casillas decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cridle's guard.

Cridle has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Casillas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cridle had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Casillas is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Cridle Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Casillas's back instead.

Cridle has his arm under Casillas's chin here. Game over son! Cridle squeezes tightly and Casillas is forced to tap out!
