The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Bones wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Newton gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bones.
With the fighters up against the cage, Newton throws an elbow but misses.
Bones manages to break the clinch.
Bones fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Newton looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Newton gets tackled into the cage by Bones. Bones maintains the clinch.
Bones is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Newton to keep the fight standing.
Bones changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Newton fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phoney Bones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Bones counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Newton thinking.
Bones shoots in and bounces Newton off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Newton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bones's guard.

Newton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Newton has gone for a leg lock! Bones slips out almost immediately though and dives into Newton's guard.
Bones tries to free his leg and advance position but Newton is retaining full guard.

Newton seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bones shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bones showed some decent athleticism there.
