Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ulysses Sanderson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scott Rush! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanderson closes the distance and pushes Rush back into the cage. Rush managing to block the knees to the body from Sanderson.
Sanderson breaks from the clinch.
Sanderson lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Sanderson plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Sanderson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rush tries to avoid it but Sanderson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rush to the ground. Rush escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Rush pushes Sanderson up against the cage in a clinch. Rush drags the fight down to the ground.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Rush looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Sanderson wants to control from the top but Rush keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rush looking for a sweep. Not yet Rush, not yet. Sanderson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Sanderson throws a big right hand that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanderson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Sanderson closes the distance and clinches. A frustrated look appears on Rush's face as he tries to break the clinch. Sanderson has Rush pressed against the cage, preventing Rush from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Sanderson tries to land knees in the clinch but Rush avoids the damage to the body. Sanderson lands a damaging elbow.
It looks like Scott Rush has been cut. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Sanderson obliges. Sanderson utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Sanderson lands a knee to the body.
Rush wants to break the clinch but can't.
Sanderson has Rush pressed against the cage, preventing Rush from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Sanderson lands an elbow that stopped Rush in his tracks for a moment.

This has been an exciting period of action! Rush trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sanderson's guard. Rush must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Sanderson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Rush. Rush postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Sanderson seems keen to control Rush's posture. Rush throwing strikes from guard but Sanderson blocks nicely. Rush working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Rush trying to control but Sanderson is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rush has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sanderson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Rush managing to block the knees to the body from Sanderson.

Sanderson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Rush avoids it. Rush avoids a wild elbow strike from Sanderson. Sanderson is trying to pull guard but Rush has him pressed against the cage. Sanderson is breathing heavily. Sanderson jumps guard and drags Rush to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rush trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanderson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ulysses Sanderson dominated that round. The cut man is working on Scott Rush's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sanderson throws a sloppy head kick and Rush moves out of range easily. Rush misses with the combination.
Rush tries to close the distance and clinch but Sanderson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Sanderson clinches up with Rush and pushes him back against the cage. A quick uppercut on the inside from Rush. A frustrated look appears on Rush's face as he tries to break the clinch. Rush drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rush will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sanderson closes the distance and clinches. Sanderson lands a good knee to the midsection. Rush won't want to take too many of those. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Sanderson takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Rush breaks from the clinch.
Ulysses Sanderson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sanderson shoots in for a double leg but Rush sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Sanderson darts in and clinches Rush up against the cage. Sanderson jumps guard and drags Rush to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Rush trying to control but Sanderson is working from the bottom. Rush is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rush trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Sanderson keeping moving, preventing Rush from controlling successfully. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Sanderson wants to stand up but Rush is controlling him.
Scott Rush has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Rush tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sanderson swats him away and circles back towards the center. Sanderson throws a series of punches but Rush moves out of range. Rush clinches with his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sanderson decides to pull guard. Rush wants to control from the top but Sanderson keeps moving. Rush advances position into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanderson is not content to let Rush control the position. Rush is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sanderson has escaped the position, nice work there. Rush trying to control the action but Sanderson is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rush is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sanderson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Rush tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Rush looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Sanderson is avoiding damage well.

A close second round but Scott Rush will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Scott Rush's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

Rush jumps guard but Sanderson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Rush tries to pull guard but Sanderson holds him up against the cage and eventually Rush drops back down to his feet.

Ulysses Sanderson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scott Rush. Rush moves in looking to clinch but Sanderson pushes him off. Sanderson moves into range and clinches up with Rush.

Rush stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanderson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sanderson keeping moving, preventing Rush from controlling successfully. Sanderson has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Rush off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Sanderson darts in and clinches Rush up against the cage. Sanderson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
