Piper comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Real Men Wear Skirts kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Ballard Magnar has the better chin. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. Magnar darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Piper uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Magnar.

Magnar drops Piper with a beautiful combination! Piper stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Magnar is looking for the KO!

It looks like Roddy Piper has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Magnar lands a lovely overhand right.

and Piper counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Piper sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Magnar's guard.
Piper seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Magnar is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Piper's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Piper's back!

Magnar wants to control but Piper is keeping busy.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Magnar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Piper on the ground.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Piper holds on and takes a little breather.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Magnar lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Piper shoots in for a takedown but Magnar shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Piper shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Magnar pinned against the cage. Magnar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Ballard Magnar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roddy Piper.

Ballard Magnar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Magnar sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Magnar takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Magnar is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Piper lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Horrible takedown by Piper or perhaps it was just good defense by Magnar which made him look bad.

Piper takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Magnar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Piper circles away quickly and effectively.

Piper fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Magnar to the ground. Piper is now in Magnar's guard.
