Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Geoff Sanburg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and AJ Winters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanburg kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Black Sabbath - War Pigs. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Geoff Sanburg! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, AJ Winters! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Winters fails with a takedown attempt. Winters checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Sanburg ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Sanburg tries to clinch up but Winters circles away and keeps his distance. Winters slips under a jab. Sanburg tries to clinch but Winters moves out of range. Sanburg tries a head kick but it misses.
A big left from Sanburg misses. Winters slips under a jab from Sanburg. Sanburg looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Winters with a lazy takedown attempt and Sanburg counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Sanburg wants to control but Winters is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sanburg in particular looking to stall. Winters looking for subs from the bottom but Sanburg mounts him! Winters really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Sanburg working for a guillotine from mount but Winters is in no mood to give up. Winters is in a horrible position here. Sanburg smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Winters is squirming around, avoiding Sanburg's attempts to control the action. Sanburg knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Winters on the ground. Winters is looking to improve his position but Sanburg isn't that keen on the idea. Sanburg wants to control the pace but Winters is squirming around nicely. Winters sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sanburg content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. This has been an exciting period of action!
Geoff Sanburg has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Sanburg tries to bum rush Winters with a series of wild strikes but Winters uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Sanburg throws a head kick but Winters moves out of range.
Winters throws a body kick that misses. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Winters crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Sanburg - the referee stops the clock and Winters gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Sanburg. Winters manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Winters shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Sanburg moves into the clinch. Geoff Sanburg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of AJ Winters. Winters blocks an elbow strike from Sanburg.
Winters is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Sanburg is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanburg pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Winters moves out of range of the strikes. Winters shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sanburg as he avoids it easily. Winters blocks a head kick by Sanburg.
Sanburg tests Winters's chin there with a solid looking shot. Sanburg throws a nice looking combination but Winters bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Winters tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sanburg sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Winters somewhat. Winters looks winded! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Winters with a poor takedown and Sanburg counters with a crisp one two that drops Winters! Sanburg thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Winters to his feet! Winters is in big trouble!
Winters is rocked! Geoff Sanburg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This has been an exciting period of action! Sanburg has managed to clinch.
Winters is still on wobbly legs! Can Sanburg finish him? Winters drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sanburg pulls his leg out and moves away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Geoff Sanburg dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Sanburg drops Winters with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Winters looks back up at him and smiles so Sanburg waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Sanburg leaves Winters with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Sanburg is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sanburg scores with a spinning back kick! Sanburg manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Winters on his heels. He'll look to pass Winters's guard now, I'm sure. Winters seems to have recovered his senses. Sanburg has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Sanburg got a little sloppy there for a moment and Winters has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sanburg has managed to get both his arms back between Winters's legs - danger averted. Winters is breathing heavily. Winters working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sanburg doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sanburg manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanburg trying to stand up but can't free himself from Winters's guard. Winters keeping moving, preventing Sanburg from controlling successfully. Sanburg is working Winters over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Geoff Sanburg overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Winters had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sanburg defends it easily. Sanburg lands a couple of digs. Sanburg advances position into side control! Winters is trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanburg in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Sanburg working the head with strikes. Sanburg works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Winters is looking to reverse the position. Sanburg stands up. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sanburg looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Sanburg rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Winters moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Winters dodges the punch combination from Sanburg.

Geoff Sanburg is winning the standup battle so far. Sanburg closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Winters did well to prevent Sanburg getting side control. Winters looking for submissions off his back. Sanburg sitting and controlling from the half guard. Sanburg wants to control but Winters is keeping him busy. Winters is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sanburg pulls his head out easily. Sanburg wants to stand up but Winters has a hold of him and won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sanburg scoring with strikes to the body and head. Winters wants to get back to full guard. Sanburg wants to get back to his feet.
Winters looking for submissions off his back. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sanburg connects with a nice short shot to Winters's temple. Sanburg wants to stand up but Winters is controlling the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Winters looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sanburg seems to be looking for submissions.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Winters is defended easily by Sanburg. Sanburg throws a good cross that connects.
Sanburg throws a right hand that Winters ducks under and follows up with a left that Winters also avoids with ease. Sanburg fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Winters looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Geoff Sanburg is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sanburg tries to close the distance and clinch up but Winters swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's one minute gone in the round. Winters on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Winters gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Sanburg lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Winters takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Sanburg throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. No joy there for Sanburg, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Sanburg throws a hook but Winters blocks it. Sanburg has Winters up against the cage in a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Winters drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sanburg breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Winters will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Geoff Sanburg has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of AJ Winters. Winters moves out of range of the body kick from Sanburg.
Winters shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Sanburg cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Sanburg lands a high kick!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanburg is looking to score with low kicks. Winters avoids the head kick by Sanburg.

Winters has his takedown stuffed and Sanburg counters with a three punch combo that has Winters backing up. Winters nods at Sanburg to acknowledge the strikes. Sanburg tries to clinch but Winters is having none of it. Sanburg moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. The fighters circle, before Sanburg throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Winters's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Sanburg lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
