Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Elgin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Chestnut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kenny Chestnut has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jason Elgin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kenny Chestnut!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chestnut cracks Elgin with a good jab.


It looks like Jason Elgin has been cut.
Chestnut swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Elgin counters with a single leg into guard. Chestnut didn't expect that.
Elgin stops Chestnut from standing up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Chestnut is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Elgin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Elgin has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Chestnut avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Elgin could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Chestnut is looking to clinch but Elgin is avoiding it.
Chestnut tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Chestnut lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Elgin at a distance.
Chestnut shoots in for a double leg but Elgin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Chestnut throws a right hand that Elgin ducks under and follows up with a left that Elgin also avoids with ease.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Elgin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Chestnut wants to get back to his feet but Elgin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Jason Elgin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Elgin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Chestnut is looking to stand up but Elgin isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Elgin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jason Elgin.

Elgin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Chestnut to the mat! Chestnut manages to get full guard.
Chestnut is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Elgin is controlling him.

Elgin throws a leg kick which misses Chestnut's front leg but catches the back leg as Chestnut tries to avoid it.

Chestnut Rushes Elgin and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Elgin is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Chestnut Piles on the pressure and Elgin crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
