PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul The Cheat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dima Sava (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Cheat looks for a takedown but Sava sprawls well.
Sava throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around The Cheat's waist but The Cheat gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sava off to one side.

The Cheat shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Sava's guard.

The Cheat stands up and waves to Sava to follow him.
Sava tries to score a power double leg takedown but The Cheat sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sava somewhat.
Sava changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. The Cheat tries to avoid it but Sava manages to keep hold of a leg and drag The Cheat to the ground. The Cheat escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Paul The Cheat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dima Sava.

Sava clinches up with The Cheat and pushes him back against the cage.

The Cheat has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Sava is trying to keep an underhook but The Cheat manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The Cheat wants to take a breather but Sava is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sava tries to get to full guard but The Cheat has control of the leg.

Sava is trying to maintain the position but The Cheat is very close to passing his half guard.

The Cheat is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The Cheat seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Sava has his hands clasped together around The Cheat's back. He's all about the action.

The Cheat thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
The Cheat is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

We're going to have a standup here because Paul The Cheat wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Sava looks to land a left hand but The Cheat moved out of range nicely.
Sava tries to clinch but The Cheat moves out of range.
The Cheat misses with a head kick.

The Cheat gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Sava tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. The Cheat just stands there and leans against the cage.

Sava prevents a takedown attempt there.

Sava jumps guard and drags The Cheat to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Sava is trying to keep The Cheat in close.
Sava wants to stand and escape but The Cheat is having none of it.
Sava looks winded!
The Cheat controlling from the top position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The Cheat tries to free his leg and advance position but Sava is retaining full guard.

Paul The Cheat dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A looping hook to the body misses from The Cheat. Sava does a little dance to reset his feet.

The Cheat shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Sava wants to improve his position but The Cheat is controlling well.
Sava is looking to control The Cheat's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sava avoid being mounted?

The Cheat is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sava has managed to free his arm - good work.

The Cheat is keen to just control but Sava is a slippery customer.
The Cheat takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The Cheat is looking to take a break and control but Sava is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The Cheat lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

The Cheat is keen to just control but Sava is a slippery customer.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Paul The Cheat just wasn't active enough.

The Cheat has Sava up against the cage in a clinch.
Sava with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

The Cheat manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Sava would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The Cheat pushes Sava off and gets back to his feet.
The Cheat tried to score with a low kick but Sava checks it.

Sava decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The Cheat manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Sava is breathing heavily.
The Cheat digs a good body shot into Sava's ribs.
The Cheat tries for a takedown but Sava sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Sava shoots in but The Cheat avoids the takedown attempt easily.
The Cheat looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sava is fending him off so far but The Cheat persists. Nope, Sava circles away and we're back to standing.
Sava throws a right and a left that The Cheat avoids nicely.

The Cheat gets tackled into the cage by Sava. Sava maintains the clinch.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Sava obliges.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sava taking a breather.
Sava tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. The Cheat smiles and moves away.
The Cheat cracks the inside of Sava's front leg.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The Cheat fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sava sprawls well initially but The Cheat persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with The Cheat in particular looking to stall.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The Cheat looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Sava closes the distance and clinches up with The Cheat, looking for a takedown. Sava pushes The Cheat against the cage but The Cheat circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
The Cheat shoots in looking for a takedown but Sava manages to keep the fight standing, pushing The Cheat's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The Cheat fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sava to the ground. The Cheat is now in Sava's guard.

Sava is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and The Cheat defends well.
Paul The Cheat overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sava tries to improve position but can't.
Sava prevents The Cheat from moving into mount.
The Cheat controlling the position from side mount.
Sava is looking for a sweep.

The Cheat has hold of Sava's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Sava tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - The Cheat cranks the arm and Sava screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Sava, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
