Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Homer Cox!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Bruce!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bruce misses with a body kick.
Cox tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bruce swivels and escapes.
Bruce dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Bruce tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cox closes the distance and clinches up with Bruce, looking for a takedown. Cox pushes Bruce against the cage but Bruce circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bruce drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Cox tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bruce engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bruce wants to control from the top but Cox keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mike Bruce hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Cox tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bruce paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cox shoots in and drives through. Bruce sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Homer Cox. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Bruce counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Bruce stands up and waves to Cox to follow him.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bruce.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bruce throws a series of strikes that have Cox backpedaling.
Bruce throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cox tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bruce is in Cox's guard.
Cox is breathing heavily.
Bruce has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cox is proving hard to escape from.
Cox keeping moving, preventing Bruce from controlling successfully.

Bruce is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Cox throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Bruce really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cox. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Bruce stuffs the takedown attempt from Cox. Cox gets slowly back to his feet.
Cox gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bruce to score an easy takedown into full guard.
