Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Beno Neck Breaker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Braddock Spong! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spong shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Neck Breaker tries to clinch but fails miserably and Spong counters with a nice double leg into guard. Spong drops back looking for a leg! Neck Breaker is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Neck Breaker manages to kick Spong off! Spong jumps back into Neck Breaker's guard. Neck Breaker looking for a sweep. Not yet Neck Breaker, not yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spong postures up.
Spong is looking to pass into half guard but Neck Breaker pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Neck Breaker is in guard. Neck Breaker trying to control the position from guard on top but Spong is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Spong is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Neck Breaker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Neck Breaker tries for a takedown but Spong circles away easily and Spong counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Spong tries to free his leg and advance position but Neck Breaker is retaining full guard. Spong postures up.
Spong drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Spong jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Spong forces his way into half guard. Neck Breaker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Spong on the ground. Spong seems to be working for a kimura but Neck Breaker defends the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neck Breaker is defending against the submission attempts here by Spong.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Spong is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Neck Breaker defends it well. Spong works his foot free and advances to mount. Spong is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Spong!
