Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Leandro Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bv Rasp!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rasp has Alves up against the cage in a clinch.
Rasp jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Alves walks away with a smile on his face. Rasp gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Alves misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rasp.
Alves looks to throw the jab but Rasp is out of range.
Rasp tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alves paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Alves swats away the attempt to clinch by Rasp.
Rasp avoids the body shot from Alves.
Alves fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rasp has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Alves scores with a leg kick.
Alves throws a predictable looking body shot
and Rasp counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Alves thinking.
Alves connects with a leg kick. Rasp looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Alves. Rasp does a little dance to reset his feet.
Alves slips under a jab from Rasp.
Rasp throws a jab when Alves was well out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rasp gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Rasp is trying to control the position but Alves postures up.
Alves wants to pass the guard but Rasp is keeping the position.

Rasp is looking for a triangle but Alves pushes his legs off easily.

Rasp has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Alves is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rasp.
Rasp tries to improve position but can't.
Alves creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Alves is trying to get an arm triangle but Rasp is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rasp tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Alves is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rasp is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rasp tries to bench press Alves off him but Alves keeps the position.
Rasp is trying to work for a sweep but Alves has mounted him!

Rasp slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Rasp looking for submissions off his back.

Ground and pound from Alves.
Alves has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Alves takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Alves works his way into full mount!
Alves trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Alves connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Alves pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Alves looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.


Rasp is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Alves is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Rasp can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Rasp is still in real trouble! Can Alves finish him?
Alves loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Rasp scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Alves land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Alves stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leandro Alves!
