PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yonash Blagech (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barrett Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blagech kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Red Tree - wood. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yonash Blagech!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Barrett Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blagech with a poor takedown
and Johnson counters with a one-two to the body.
Johnson looks to land a combination but Blagech avoids it well.

Johnson gets the takedown into side control.
Johnson content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Blagech tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Johnson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Ground and pound from Johnson.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Blagech is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Johnson pulls his head out easily.
Blagech has hold of Johnson's hands but Johnson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Blagech looking for submissions off his back.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Johnson wants to take a breather but Blagech is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Johnson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Blagech with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Blagech is looking to improve his position.
Blagech tries to kick Johnson off but Johnson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson is trying to control. Blagech wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Johnson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Blagech avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Johnson.

Johnson seems to be working for a kimura but Blagech defends the submission attempt.

Blagech makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Blagech.

Johnson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Blagech has momentary wrist control but Johnson slips an elbow through the middle.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Johnson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Blagech has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Johnson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Blagech swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Blagech escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johnson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Blagech is keeping the position.

Blagech had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Johnson defends it easily.

Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Blagech has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Blagech's legs - danger averted.
Johnson controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Blagech throws his legs up looking for a submission but Johnson uses it to pass to side control.
Blagech is breathing heavily.
Johnson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Blagech keeps working.
Johnson just content to control the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Blagech is trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Johnson content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Blagech sneaks back into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Barrett Johnson will probably get the nod.
That's time! Blagech's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Johnson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Blagech stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Blagech gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Johnson counters with a series of strikes. Blagech will be more careful next time no doubt.
Blagech doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Johnson counters with a crisp one two that drops Blagech! Johnson thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Blagech to his feet! Blagech is in big trouble!


Blagech is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Blagech doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Johnson goes for a counter takedown and lands it with interest - it's knocked his opponent senseless! It looks like Johnson 's shoulder did the damage as the two fighters hit the mat.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Barrett Johnson!
An out of breath Barrett Johnson thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
