Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Stackhouse!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stackhouse pinned against the cage. Stackhouse gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Smith gets tackled into the cage by Stackhouse. Stackhouse maintains the clinch.
Stackhouse wants a takedown but no success here.

Stackhouse is fighting off a takedown attempt but Smith is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Stackhouse to the mat. Stackhouse regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Stackhouse is pulling down on Smith's head to control his posture.
Stackhouse wants to sweep but no luck.
Smith trying to control the position from guard on top but Stackhouse is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jason Stackhouse was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Stackhouse will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Stackhouse tries for a takedown but Smith sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Stackhouse tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it.

Smith shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Smith was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Stackhouse is trying to get back to half guard.
Smith tries to stand but Stackhouse is controlling his head.

Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stackhouse keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stackhouse is trying to improve his position.
Smith trying to control the position but Stackhouse is working away.
Smith misses with the ground and pound.

Smith wants to stand but Stackhouse has his arm trapped.

Smith stands up and we're back to a striking position.

and Stackhouse counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Stackhouse has Smith pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Smith manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Smith wants to take the fight to the mat but Stackhouse manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Stackhouse changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Smith fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Stackhouse defends it nicely.
Stackhouse defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Smith.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fight stays on the outside here - Stackhouse looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Stackhouse slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John Smith will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Stackhouse attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Smith tries to improve position but can't.
John Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Stackhouse prevents Smith from escaping the position.
Stackhouse staying calm.
Stackhouse lands a decent elbow from side control.
Smith is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Stackhouse off and has taken his back!
Smith is looking to control Stackhouse but Stackhouse is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stackhouse on the ground.
Smith is trying to stick to Stackhouse's back but Stackhouse is turning into Smith. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Smith's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Stackhouse.

Stackhouse wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Stackhouse postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Smith wants to stand but Stackhouse is controlling the position.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Stackhouse keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Smith's head.

Smith looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Stackhouse has picked Smith up and slammed him! Smith can't keep hold of the triangle and Stackhouse manages to pass to side control!

Smith takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Stackhouse looks up at the clock and then as Smith takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Stackhouse smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Smith on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smith tries to get out of the position.
Smith tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Stackhouse presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jason Stackhouse showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Stackhouse avoids it really well and circles away.

Smith tries to roll over but Stackhouse keeps him under control.

Smith is trying to maintain the position but Stackhouse is very close to passing his half guard.
Stackhouse looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Stackhouse winds up and cracks Smith with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Stackhouse takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Stackhouse stops Smith from getting back to his feet.

Stackhouse seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Smith is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
