PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tom Kazansky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cung Le (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kazansky comes to the cage accompanied by Danger Zone. Le is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ten Thousand Strong. Cung Le told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 41 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tom Kazansky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cung Le!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Le throws a jab when Kazansky was well out of range.
The fighters circling - Kazansky throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Le throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Kazansky closes the distance and clinches.

Kazansky ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kazansky no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Kazansky avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Kazansky is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Le defends well.
Kazansky not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kazansky throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Kazansky is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kazansky throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Le must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cung Le was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Kazansky dives in and scores a takedown into Le's guard.
Le wants to stand up but Kazansky is controlling him.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kazansky accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kazansky pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Le is keeping the position for now.
Kazansky working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Le really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kazansky. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Le tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Kazansky passes Le's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Kazansky is working for a kimura but Le is defending it quite comfortably.
Le keeping control of the position.
Le trying to control from the bottom.

Kazansky looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kazansky wants to control but Le is keeping him busy.

Le is trying to stand back up but Kazansky is controlling him
Le keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Le is trying to control but can't.
Kazansky has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kazansky is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Le wants to control but Kazansky passes into side.
Le is trying to improve his position.

Le manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Le is refusing to be controlled, as Kazansky sits in half guard.
Le is looking for a sweep. Kazansky is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Le is defending against the submission attempts here by Kazansky.

Kazansky is working for a submission of some sort.

Kazansky is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Kazansky dominated that round.

and Le counters with a solid body kick.
A thudding body kick lands there by Le!
Le getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Le scores with a nice body kick.
Le misses with a head kick.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Le.
Le lets loose with a powerful body kick. Kazansky will feel that in the morning.
Le throws a head kick that misses.
Le digs a good body shot into Kazansky's ribs.
Kazansky takes one to the chin there.


Kazansky is rocked!
Kazansky circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Le. Kazansky falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Le!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Cung Le!
An out of breath Cung Le thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
