Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Peter Sabota (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angel Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sabota comes into the arena with Its Going Down blaring out of the sound system. Ortiz has chosen My town as his entrance music. Peter Sabota had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Peter Sabota! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Angel Ortiz! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortiz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Ortiz missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Ortiz is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Ortiz not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Ortiz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sabota's head. Ortiz throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Ortiz prevents Sabota from standing back up.
Ortiz is nestled in close to Sabota, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Sabota on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sabota tries to get out of the position. Sabota manages to escape and get back to his feet! Ortiz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Sabota looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The ground and pound from Ortiz seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Ortiz misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Ortiz with the ground and pound but Sabota regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Ortiz is looking for a kimura here.

Ortiz with the ground and pound but Sabota uses the opportunity to regain guard. Sabota avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ortiz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Ortiz has gone for a leg lock! Sabota slips out almost immediately though and dives into Ortiz's guard. Ortiz seems keen to control Sabota's posture.

Sabota loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ortiz controlling the position. Sabota trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Sabota throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Ortiz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Sabota postures up in Ortiz's guard and throws a big left but Ortiz blocks it. Ortiz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Angel Ortiz hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Ortiz feints a jab promting Sabota to slip. Ortiz then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Sabota slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sabota defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ortiz. Sabota stuffs the takedown. Angel Ortiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sabota fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ortiz avoids it really well and circles away. Ortiz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Sabota is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ortiz throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Sabota.
It looks like Peter Sabota has been cut. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sabota leaves Ortiz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Peter Sabota has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Angel Ortiz. Ortiz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sabota but Sabota pushes him off and we're back to square one. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sabota fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Ortiz shoots in and drives through. Sabota sprawls well. Ortiz forces Sabota back against the cage and clinches. Sabota escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ortiz closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Sabota's guard. Ortiz prevents Sabota from getting back to his feet. Ortiz throws a strike but Sabota rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Sabota missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sabota throws a big right hand that misses. Ortiz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sabota defends it easily. Sabota preventing the sweep. Sabota throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ortiz works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Sabota being controlled here momentarily. Ortiz doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ortiz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ortiz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sabota. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sabota has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ortiz is trying to keep Sabota in close.

Ortiz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sabota was covering up waiting for the punch and Ortiz finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Ortiz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Ortiz works over Sabota with some ground and pound from guard. Ortiz throws a strike but Sabota rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Ortiz pulls Sabota in to control the position. Sabota working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Sabota is in close to Ortiz's body, working some short punches and elbows.

So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Wait, no, Sabota rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Ortiz's guard! Nice work there by Sabota! Sabota has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ortiz is proving hard to escape from. Sabota throws a big elbow that misses. Sabota is fighting to break Ortiz's control of his arms but Ortiz is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Sabota tries to free his leg and advance position but Ortiz is retaining full guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Sabota is looking to work some ground and pound but Ortiz has wrist control. Sabota in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Ortiz is looking to stand up but Sabota isn't so interested in that idea. Ortiz has his hands on Sabota's head, controlling the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Angel Ortiz. Ortiz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ortiz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Sabota regains half guard, as Ortiz was trying to land strikes.

And that's the end of the fight! Angel Ortiz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Ortiz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Angel Ortiz! After the fight, Angel Ortiz was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
