Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Palmer Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Palmer Ward! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ward feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Jones is working an open guard so Ward takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Jones leaves Ward with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones wants it to stay on the feet. Jones looks for a takedown but Ward sprawls well. Ward shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Jason Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Palmer Ward. Ward misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Ward tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jones controls Ward momentarily but Ward frees himself. Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ward manages to get himself to full guard.

Palmer Ward seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Ward stuffs the takedown attempt from Jones. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.

Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ward. Ward fails with a takedown attempt. Ward gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones. Jones gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ward.
Ward looks winded! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jones has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ward is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Ward works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Jones wants to stand up but Ward is controlling him. Jones is trying to control the position but Ward postures up. Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Jones is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ward is just riding it out for now. Jones eventually gives up the hold.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones is looking to stall here but Ward recovers full guard. Jones loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Jones with a flurry of punches that miss. Ward working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jones. Jones throws an elbow that misses. Ward uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Ward! Ward wants to stand but Jones has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Jones controls Ward momentarily but Ward frees himself. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ward slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Ward working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jason Jones will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

Jones misses with an uppercut. Ward saw that one coming. Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ward paws at him with a jab and circles away. Ward gets caught napping as Jones dives in and scores a takedown. Ward manages to retain guard. Jones wants to control from the top but Ward keeps moving. Jones lands a couple of digs. Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Ward shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side. Ward is breathing heavily. Jones fails with a takedown attempt. Jones fails in his attempt to clinch. Ward shoots in looking for a takedown. Jones tries to sprawl out of it but Ward keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jones manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Jason Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Palmer Ward.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ward shoots in but no luck this time. Jones shoots in and drives through. Ward sprawls well. Ward shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side. The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Jones tries for a takedown but Ward sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ward tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ward to the ground. Ward escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jones darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jones takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Jones is working for a submission of some sort.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Ward to regain full guard. Jones wants to control from the top but Ward keeps moving. Ward wants to get back to his feet but Jones is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones wants to control from the top but Ward keeps moving. Jones postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ward is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jones, into his guard. Jones lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ward! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Nice move. Jones wants to take a breather but Ward is having none of it. Jones is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Ward still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Ward has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Ward decides to stand back up. Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Jones working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Ward won't allow Jones to pass to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ward's head. Jones scoring with strikes to the body and head. Jones is looking to stall here but Ward recovers full guard. Jones trying to control but Ward is working from the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ward can do anything to dispel that myth. Ward is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.
