Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Willy Coffey!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Menzies swats away the attempt to clinch by Coffey.

Coffey darts in and clinches Menzies up against the cage.

Coffey drops down looking for an ankle pick but Menzies pulls his leg out and moves away.
Coffey wants to clinch up but Menzies keeps it at a distance.
Menzies throws a shot from downtown. Coffey moves away and avoids it.
Coffey fails in his attempt to clinch.
Coffey takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Coffey has taken the fight to the clinch.
Coffey lands an elbow just above Menzies 's eye.
Menzies is working for takedown but Coffey is calmly controlling the position for now.

Menzies tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Coffey just stands there and leans against the cage.

Menzies changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Coffey looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ground and pound from Menzies seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Coffey is looking to regain half guard here but Menzies keeps moving and retains side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Coffey swings wildly with an uppercut but Menzies uses good head movement to avoid it.

Menzies tries to work over Coffey's front leg with a kick but Coffey checks it.

Menzies misses with a shot to the body
and Coffey counters with a series of strikes. Menzies will be more careful next time no doubt.
Coffey uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Menzies.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Coffey lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Menzies has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Menzies and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Coffey lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Menzies backs up against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Coffey moves out of range of the leg kick from Menzies.
Coffey will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Menzies lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Coffey circles away quickly and effectively.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Coffey counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


Menzies is rocked!

Coffey shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! Menzies is on queer street and Coffey is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!
