Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tarik Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kwaku Sherk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tarik Johnson has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tarik Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kwaku Sherk! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, David Schapiro and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson is looking to chop away at Sherk's legs. Johnson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A head kick misses from Johnson. Johnson shoots and misses and Sherk counters with a lovely straight right hand! Nice shot lands for Sherk. Sherk tries to close the distance and clinch but Johnson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sherk. Johnson moves out of range of the strikes. Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Sherk thuds a left hand into Johnson's body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sherk drives through and clinches with Johnson against the cage.
Sherk misses with a body punch.
Johnson wants a takedown.
Sherk wants the takedown. Johnson is fighting it off but Sherk persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Johnson's guard against the cage. Johnson is pulling down on Sherk's head to control his posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Sherk from controlling successfully. Sherk throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Johnson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Sherk throwing strikes from guard but Johnson blocks nicely. Sherk lands a couple of digs. Sherk really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sherk working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Johnson's head. Johnson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sherk. Sherk looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Sherk wants to sweep here but Johnson controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sherk can do anything to dispel that myth. Sherk is looking to sweep but instead, Johnson has passed into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sherk misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Sherk is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Sherk is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Johnson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sherk defends it well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson blocks the strikes from Sherk.
Sherk tries to roll over but Johnson keeps him under control. Johnson passes to full mount! Sherk is working to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sherk is looking to escape. Johnson is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Sherk is in real trouble.
Johnson keeps control of the position as Sherk tries to break free.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Johnson's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Sherk is really stuck here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sherk looking very determined here, making life difficult for Johnson.
Johnson misses with punches from the back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kwaku Sherk dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Johnson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sherk pinned against the cage. Sherk gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Johnson fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Johnson with a lazy takedown attempt and Sherk counters with a lovely straight right hand! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tarik Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sherk wants to clinch. Johnson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Johnson ducks under a wild hook from Sherk. Sherk lands with a shot to the body. Kwaku Sherk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson slips a jab and a cross from Sherk.
Sherk clinches up with Johnson and pushes him back against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Sherk loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Sherk trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Sherk throwing strikes from guard but Johnson blocks nicely. Johnson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sherk defends it easily. Sherk is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sherk is in close to Johnson's body, working some short punches and elbows. Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Johnson keeping moving, preventing Sherk from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sherk postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Sherk scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Sherk throws an elbow that misses. Johnson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Sherk's guard. Nice move by Johnson! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sherk trying to keep a closed guard but Johnson is proving a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Sherk lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Johnson! Sherk in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Kwaku Sherk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Sherk gets in close and instigates a clinch. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Sherk has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Johnson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Sherk misses with a short punch on the inside. A frustrated look appears on Sherk's face as he tries to break the clinch. Sherk goes for a takedown in the clinch but Johnson prevents it.
Sherk drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Johnson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Tarik Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kwaku Sherk. Johnson jumps guard.
Sherk is posturing up here but Johnson has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Sherk tries to roll out but it's too tight and Sherk has to tap! Slick submission there by Johnson!
