Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rickson Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown has chosen The One as his entrance music. Derek Brown has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Rickson Rua's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Rickson Rua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Derek Brown! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rua clinches. Brown looking for a takedown. Rua wants a takedown but no success here.
Rua jumps guard and drags Brown to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Rua keeping moving, preventing Brown from controlling successfully. Rua wants to stand and escape but Brown is having none of it. Brown trying to control the position from guard on top but Rua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Derek Brown wasn't active enough on the ground. Rua shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brown pinned against the cage. Brown gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rickson Rua. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rua fails with a takedown attempt. Rua misses with a takedown and Brown counters with a lovely straight right hand! Rua closes the distance and clinches up with Brown, looking for a takedown. Rua pushes Brown against the cage but Brown circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Rua shoots for a double leg takedown but Brown sprawls well. He's pushed Rua's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rua shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Brown lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rua! Brown tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Rua is squirming around, avoiding Brown's attempts to control the action.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Brown tries to control but Rua wriggling away. Rua is trying to stand up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Rickson Rua will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Rua tries to stand and escape but Brown is controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Brown slaps away a takedown attempt from Rua, before circling back to the center of the mat. Horrible takedown by Rua or perhaps it was just good defense by Brown which made him look bad. Rua shoots in looking for a takedown. Brown tries to sprawl out of it but Rua keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brown manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rickson Rua. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rua shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Brown avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brown keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Brown slaps away a takedown attempt from Rua, before circling back to the center of the mat. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Brown displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rua. Rua shoots in for a takedown but Brown shows good takedown defense. Rua tries for a takedown but Brown circles away easily and Brown counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Brown prevents Rua from getting back to his feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Brown gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rua to score an easy takedown into full guard. Rua prevents Brown from getting back to his feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Rickson Rua wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Horrible takedown by Rua or perhaps it was just good defense by Brown which made him look bad. Rickson Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rua misses with a takedown attempt and Brown counters with a nice body shot. Rua changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brown tries to avoid it but Rua manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brown to the ground. Brown escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Rua shoots in looking for a takedown. Brown tries to sprawl out of it but Rua keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brown manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Rua tries for a takedown but Brown sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rua fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Rua with a lazy takedown attempt and Brown counters with a stiff right hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Rickson Rua will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Brown has picked Rua up - he's going for a ride! Brown dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Rua is trying to stand back up but Brown is controlling him
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Brown is keen to just control but Rua is a slippery customer.

I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Rua tries to close the distance and clinch up but Brown swats him away and circles back towards the center. Rua looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brown is fending him off so far but Rua persists. Nope, Brown circles away and we're back to standing. Horrible takedown by Rua or perhaps it was just good defense by Brown which made him look bad. Rua tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Brown swivels and escapes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rua throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brown's waist but Brown gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rua off to one side. Rua closes the distance but Brown moves to the side and Brown counters with a nice double leg into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Brown is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rua sees it coming and defends easily. Rua looks like he's trying to stand up.
Brown wants to pass to mount but Rua is defending the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brown content to control rather than advance. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Rickson Rua wasn't doing enough on the ground. Rua moves into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua lands a takedown into guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Brown holds on and takes a little breather. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Rickson Rua has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Brown stuffs the takedown. Rua misses with a takedown attempt and Rua takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rua with a poor takedown and Brown counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Rua! Derek Brown has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Brown working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
And that's the end of the fight! Derek Brown comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Rua has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
