PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Benny Bigsby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Watts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Benny Bigsby has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Benny Bigsby!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ken Watts!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bigsby fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Watts manages to avoid it.
Bigsby stuffs the takedown attempt from Watts. Watts gets slowly back to his feet.

Watts bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Watts looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Watts is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bigsby is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Bigsby is trying to get back to his feet.

Watts tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Watts tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Watts has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Watts has knee on belly momentarily but Bigsby bucks him off and regains half guard.
Watts wants to pass to mount but Bigsby is defending the position.
Bigsby is trying to stand back up but Watts is controlling him

Watts is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Bigsby might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Watts is working for a submission of some sort.
Watts looks gassed!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Bigsby is looking to improve his position.

Bigsby looking for submissions off his back.
Watts looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Bigsby knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Watts on the ground.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Bigsby tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Bigsby doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Watts counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Watts.

Watts drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Watts jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Bigsby tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Watts tries to free his leg and advance position but Bigsby is retaining full guard.
Watts trying to move into half guard but instead Bigsby has managed to sweep!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bigsby wants to control from the top but Watts keeps moving.
Watts tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bigsby landing some decent shots from guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bigsby doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Watts counters with a shoot takedown. Bigsby fights it but they end up in guard.
Watts passes into half guard.
Bigsby won't allow Watts to pass to mount.

Watts is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Watts dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Bigsby throws a leg kick that is checked

and Watts counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Bigsby!

Watts is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Bigsby is surviving well by controlling Watts's body position as best he can.

Watts goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Bigsby is on top in guard.
Watts avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Watts escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bigsby gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Watts has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bigsby is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Watts.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bigsby controls the position from side control.
Watts manages to get back to half guard.
Watts tries to get to full guard but Bigsby has control of the leg.
Watts is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bigsby's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bigsby's back!

Watts working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Bigsby is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Watts has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Bigsby taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ken Watts!
