Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angel Colon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Angel Colon is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thiago Alves! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Angel Colon! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, John Roberts and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves tries to clinch but Colon moves out of range. Alves shoots for a double leg takedown but Colon sprawls well. He's pushed Alves's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Colon leaves Alves with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Alves forces Colon back against the cage and clinches. Colon breaks the clinch.
Alves shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Colon as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thiago Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him. Alves shoots in for a takedown but Colon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Alves is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Colon. Colon takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Colon is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
That's one minute gone in the round. Colon ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Alves motions for Colon to come forward. Alves throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Colon scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Alves doesn't seem bothered though. Colon avoids the head kick by Alves.
Alves pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Alves fails to land the takedown. Colon lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Colon ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Colon swings for the body but Alves moves out of range.
Angel Colon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Alves takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Colon uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Alves has time to react. Alves attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Colon stalks Alves and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Alves's face. Alves staggers backwards, shaken. Alves shoots in but no luck this time. Colon stuffs the takedown. Alves is breathing heavily. Alves misses with a head kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alves shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Colon pinned against the cage. Colon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Colon connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Colon throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Alves on the side of the head. Alves misses with a right hand and Colon counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Alves tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Colon counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alves tries to clinch but fails miserably and Colon counters with a left and a right that stings Alves. A nice combination there by Colon.
Alves misses with a jab, cross combination.
Alves closes the distance but Colon moves to the side and Colon connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Alves is looking to clinch. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Alves takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Alves pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Angel Colon will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Alves gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Alves misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Colon counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Colon jabs Alves to the body, keeping him at a distance. Alves shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Colon as he jumps to the side. Alves tries to score a power double leg takedown but Colon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alves somewhat. Alves closes this distance looking for a takedown but Colon circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thiago Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. A right-left combo lands from Colon. Alves misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Colon is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Alves shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Colon as he avoids it easily. Colon ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Alves pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Colon connects with a single shot there. A nice combination there by Colon.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Colon lands a nice hook to Alves's body. Alves takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. A shot to the liver by Colon. Beautiful body shot. Colon's corner calls for a 1-2. Colon obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Colon connects with a body shot that sends Alves's belly button to the back. Colon stuns Alves with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Alves tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Colon counters with a series of strikes. Alves will be more careful next time no doubt.

Alves misses with a takedown attempt - Colon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Colon shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Alves eats them both and turns towards Colon to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Alves dodges the punch combination from Colon.
Colon lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Colon circles away from the clinch attempt and Colon counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Thiago Alves is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Alves wants to clinch and Colon connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Alves closes the distance but Colon moves to the side and Colon counters with a left to the body. Colon scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Angel Colon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Nice straight punches there by Colon. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Colon. Alves shoots in for a takedown but Colon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Colon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alves. Colon throws a series of strikes that have Alves backpedaling.
Colon stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Colon lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Colon throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Alves wants to clinch but Colon slips to the side and Colon counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Alves thinking. Colon fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves wants to clinch. Angel Colon seems to be getting the better of the standup. Colon just misses with a punch to the body.
Alves has his takedown stuffed and Colon counters with a left to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thiago Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Alves shoots in looking for a takedown. Colon tries to sprawl out of it but Alves keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Colon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Alves looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Alves shoots in for a takedown but Colon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Colon scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Alves walks into a jab. Colon jabs Alves to the body, keeping him at a distance. Colon dips to his left and cracks Alves with an uppercut! Alves shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Colon sprawls well. Colon wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Alves gets slowly back to his feet.

Colon connects with a body shot that sends Alves's belly button to the back. Colon catches Alves with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Alves closes this distance looking for a takedown but Colon circles away. Colon throws a good cross that connects.
The fighters circle momentarily. Colon darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Colon with a body punch. A glancing blow. Nice jab there from Colon. Colon lands a slapping body shot.
Colon circles away from the clinch attempt and Colon cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Alves takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Alves misses with a takedown and Alves takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
And that's the end of the fight! Angel Colon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Colon winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
