Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John England! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Simo Silakka! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silakka throws a leg kick and England counters with a lovely shot to the body. Silakka throws a solid leg kick but England takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Silakka. Silakka goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Silakka throws the kick towards the body but England avoids it. Silakka swings for the body but England moves out of range.
Silakka ducks under a wild hook from England. Silakka ducks under a wild hook from England. Silakka stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Silakka walks into a left hand.
It looks like Simo Silakka has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! England avoids the body shot from Silakka.
England tries to move into range but Silakka moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Silakka gets a clinch. Silakka taking a breather. Silakka scores with a shot to the side of England's head. Both guys are working to get underhooks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silakka is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and England has denied him. England blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Silakka takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Silakka lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. England blocks a body shot from Silakka. England breaks the clinch.
Silakka feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Englands jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! England misses with a straight left. England bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Silakka! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Silakka is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! England gets to his feet and stands over Silakka, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Silakka felt that one! England unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Silakka from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John England! John England gave a mention to Ultra Fight Gear in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
