Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazimierz Deyna! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryo Matsuoka! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Deyna throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Matsuoka's waist but Matsuoka gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Deyna off to one side. Matsuoka tries to clinch up. Deyna lands a two punch combo.
It looks like Ryo Matsuoka has been cut. Deyna looks to land a combination but Matsuoka avoids it well. Deyna shoots for a takedown but Matsuoka saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Matsuoka scores with a leg kick.
No joy there for Deyna, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Matsuoka scores with a nice head shot. Deyna tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Matsuoka swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kazimierz Deyna. That's going to take a lot out of him. Deyna fails to land the takedown. Kazimierz Deyna seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Matsuoka pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Deyna wants to clinch up but Matsuoka keeps it at a distance. Matsuoka keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Deyna throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Matsuoka's waist but Matsuoka gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Deyna off to one side. Deyna is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Deyna looks to land a right hand but Matsuoka moved out of range. Matsuoka fails in his attempt to clinch. Matsuoka clinches with his opponent.
Deyna tries to break free but Matsuoka pushes him back against the cage. Matsuoka dodges an elbow strike from Deyna.
Deyna drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Matsuoka gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Matsuoka manages to break the clinch.
Matsuoka throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Matsuoka looks to land a combination but Deyna avoids it well. Matsuoka stuffs the takedown. Matsuoka digs a good hook to Deyna's body.
Matsuoka throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Matsuoka throws a nice outside leg kick. Matsuoka throws a head kick that Deyna semi-blocks.
It looks like Kazimierz Deyna has been cut. A head kick from Matsuoka lands but Deyna takes it in his stride. Matsuoka fails with an attempt to clinch.
Matsuoka pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Matsuoka displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Deyna. Matsuoka drives through and clinches with Deyna against the cage.
Matsuoka pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Deyna steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Matsuoka. That one must have hurt. Matsuoka scores with a head kick.
Matsuoka throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Deyna throws a left and a right that both miss
and Matsuoka counters with a head kick. That will keep Deyna thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Deyna is rocked!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matsuoka ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Deyna's jaw. Deyna's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Matsuoka does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ryo Matsuoka! During a confident post fight interview, Ryo Matsuoka thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
