The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drake is looking to slow Dietrich down with leg kicks. Drake tries to close the distance and clinch but Dietrich swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Drake has Dietrich up against the cage in a clinch.
Dietrich is trying to break free. Drake prevents a takedown attempt there.

Dietrich fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Eric Drake has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greg Dietrich. Drake is looking to clinch but Dietrich is avoiding it.

Drake escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Dietrich tries to close the distance and clinch up but Drake swats him away and circles back towards the center. Drake tries to clinch up but Dietrich circles away and keeps his distance. Drake closes the distance but Dietrich moves to the side and Dietrich counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Drake wants to get back to his feet. Dietrich wants to lay and pray for a moment but Drake keeps working. Dietrich throwing shots but Drake is blocking nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drake is trying to stand.
Dietrich is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dietrich wants to lay and pray for a moment but Drake keeps working.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Drake feints and then cracks Dietrich's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Dietrich down. The fight stays on the outside here - Drake looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Drake tries to clinch but fails miserably and Dietrich counters with a nice double leg into side control. Drake won't be happy with that. Drake bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Drake wants to clinch but Dietrich slips to the side and Dietrich counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Dietrich drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dietrich slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Dietrich wants to control from the top but Drake keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dietrich prevents Drake from getting back to his feet. Drake kicks Dietrich off and gets to his feet. Dietrich fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Drake closes the distance looking to clinch and Dietrich counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Drake lands a brutal head kick. Dietrich looks out on his feet and Drake throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
