PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Killin Spight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jo Jo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jo has chosen Set You Free as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jo Jo was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Killin Spight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jo Jo!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spight bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jo's head backwards.
Spight swinging wildly here.

Jo manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Spight on his heels. He'll look to pass Spight's guard now, I'm sure.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jo Jo hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Jo connects with a body shot that sends Spight's belly button to the back.

Spight throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Jo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Spight's half guard.
Spight is looking for a sweep. Jo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jo seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Jo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Spight is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jo, into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spight is really struggling to control Jo but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Spight is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Jo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


No luck for Jo with that takedown attempt.

Jo throws a lazy body kick
and Spight makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Spight fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Jo has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Jo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jo blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Jo throws a head punch that misses.
A shot in the inside from Jo.
Spight lands a right hand that snaps the head of Jo backwards.

Spight lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Spight lands with a short shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A battle for position here, against the cage.

Jo breaks the clinch.
Jo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Spight sprawls well. Spight wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jo gets slowly back to his feet.
Killin Spight is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Spight tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jo has a takedown stuffed.
Killin Spight has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jo Jo.
Jo gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Jo dives in and grabs Spight's left leg, looking for a takedown. Spight pushes down on Jo's head and hops out.

Jo Jo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jo is breathing heavily.

Spight slaps away a takedown attempt from Jo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jo tries to move into range but Spight moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Jo shoots for a takedown but Spight saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Spight stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Spight keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Spight!
Spight connects with a right hand. Jo shakes it off.
Spight swats away the attempt to clinch by Jo.
Jo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Spight swivels and escapes.

Spight drops Jo with a beautiful combination! Jo stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Spight is looking for the KO!


Jo is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jo tries for a takedown but Spight sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jo is still on wobbly legs! Can Spight finish him?
BOOM! Spight lands a beautiful left hook that drops Jo. Jo tries to recover but Spight is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Jo lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:10 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Killin Spight!
During a confident post fight interview, Killin Spight thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
