Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Drew Foster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kron Asura! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Asura scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Asura wants to stand but Foster is controlling his arm. Foster is looking for a sweep. Asura is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Foster has escaped the position, nice work there. You can see the frustration on Foster's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Asura thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Foster tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Asura wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Foster struggling a bit here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Foster is looking for a sweep. Asura tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Foster is trying to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Asura looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Foster is looking to reverse the position. Asura trying to control the action but Foster is working from the bottom. Asura sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Foster is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Foster is looking for a sweep. Asura is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Foster has escaped the position, nice work there. Foster knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Asura on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Asura goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Foster has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Asura but great work by Foster. Asura tries to improve position but can't. Foster tries to stand but Asura is controlling his head. Asura is looking to regain half guard here but Foster keeps moving and retains side control. Foster wants to stand but Asura has his arm trapped. Asura tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Foster wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Foster wants to stand but Asura has his arm trapped. Asura tries to buck Foster off but Foster is having none of it. Foster wants to stand but Asura has his arm trapped. Asura tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Foster tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Asura manages to work his way to half guard, despite Foster's best efforts. Foster wants to stand up but Asura is controlling the position.
Foster wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Asura uses the opportunity to regain full guard. Asura has a closed guard, preventing Foster from standing up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Asura tries to land a sweep but no joy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kron Asura dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Horrible takedown by Asura or perhaps it was just good defense by Foster which made him look bad. Asura shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Foster as he jumps to the side. Foster avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Foster keeps the fight on the outside. Foster defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Asura. Drew Foster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kron Asura. Foster scores with a hook. Asura moves in looking to clinch but Foster pushes him off. Foster connects with a crisp jab. Asura shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Foster defends it nicely. Foster clinches. Foster lands with a short head shot on the inside. Asura is breathing heavily. Foster lands a hook to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Asura is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Foster is keeping busy. A short right from Foster. Asura jumps guard but Foster turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Foster crunches a lovely knee into Asura's ribcage. Asura takes a knee right on the jaw!
Foster lands a damaging elbow.
Asura is rocked! Foster lands an elbow that stopped Asura in his tracks for a moment. Asura is still on wobbly legs! Can Foster finish him? Foster pulls back and lands a big elbow that stuns Asura! Foster unloads with more strikes and Asura sinks to his knees! This one is all over!
