The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez avoids the body shot from Rico.
Rico shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Alvarez as he avoids it easily.

and Alvarez counters with a thumping low kick.

Alvarez is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Rico off. It looks like it's working - Rico slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Alvarez displaying calm under pressure there.

Rico is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Alvarez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well Alvarez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
