Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zaito Ru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gauge Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Zaito Ru! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gauge Diaz! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz shoots in for a double leg but Ru sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ru defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Diaz. Diaz looks for a takedown but Ru sprawls well. Zaito Ru has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gauge Diaz. Diaz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Diaz showed some decent athleticism there. Diaz is trying to control the action in half guard but Ru is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Diaz missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Diaz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Diaz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ru's head. Ru is staying active underneath Diaz, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. He's hooked one of Diaz's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Diaz's back! The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Ru misses with punches from the back. Ru struggling to land strikes to the head as Diaz covers up. Diaz is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet. Gauge Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diaz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Diaz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Diaz is looking to take a break and control but Ru is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ru parries the strikes from Diaz easily there. Diaz is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Ru to escape.
Ru knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground. Diaz cracks Ru with an elbow. That is naaassty. The ground and pound from Diaz seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Ru struggling a bit here. Diaz passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Ru! Ru is bucking up trying to escape but Diaz cracks him with another couple of good strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz working for a submission but Ru is keeping him at bay. Ru is squirming around, avoiding Diaz's attempts to control the action. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Diaz with good strikes from the mount here! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown but Ru manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Diaz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Ru leaves Diaz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Diaz shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Zaito Ru has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gauge Diaz. Ru shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Diaz pinned against the cage. Diaz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Diaz fails with the takedown and Ru counters with a shoot takedown. Diaz fights it but they end up in guard. Diaz uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Ru fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Diaz shoots in and drives through. Ru sprawls well. Diaz shoots in and gets a takedown into Ru's guard. Gauge Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! That's one minute gone in the round. Ru is trying to hold Diaz in close to prevent damage but Diaz has managed to pass into half guard.
Diaz prevents Ru from improving his position. Diaz seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ru does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz is keen to just control but Ru is a slippery customer. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Ru wants to control but Diaz passes into side.
Ru is trying to improve his position. Diaz scores with punches from side control. Diaz remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diaz is working Ru over with some ground and pound from side control. Diaz controlling the position from side mount. Ru is not content to let Diaz control the position. Ru tries to bench press Diaz off him but Diaz keeps the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diaz misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Diaz trying to control the position but Ru is working away. Ru on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Ru tries to get out of the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gauge Diaz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Diaz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ru's guard. Diaz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Ru trying to control the position.
Diaz passes easily into side control. Nice work. Diaz lands a nice forearm strike. Ru is looking to reverse the position. Ru takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Diaz controlling from side mount. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Ru dodges the ground and pound from Diaz. Diaz lands a decent elbow from side control. Diaz has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Ru!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Ru is rocked! Diaz punishing his opponent with strikes. Oh Ru is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Diaz controlling the pace for now. Diaz loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Ru scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Diaz land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Diaz stands and salutes the crowd.
