Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Felix Akamai! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edward Campbell! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Campbell scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Akamai connects with a body shot. Akamai showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Campbell.
Campbell connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Akamai missing with a left hand there. Campbell was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Edward Campbell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Akamai is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Campbell. Akamai fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Campbell throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Akamai slips under a jab from Campbell. Akamai showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Campbell.
Nice body punch from Campbell. Akamai throws a hook but Campbell blocks it. Akamai throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Campbell.
That's one minute gone in the round. Campbell just misses with a punch to the body.
Nice jab there from Campbell. Campbell connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Campbell throws a right hand that Akamai ducks under and follows up with a left that Akamai also avoids with ease. Campbell misses with a series of wild punches.

Campbell misses with a looping right. Campbell paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Campbell scores with a jab. Akamai acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Akamai tries to sprawl but Campbell drives through with a takedown into half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Akamai looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Akamai looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Campbell takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Akamai looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Campbell is taking a breather. Akamai says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Akamai looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Campbell stalling.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Campbell passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Akamai! Campbell breaks from Akamai's wrist control and lands an elbow. Akamai stops Campbell from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Akamai is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Akamai is trying to escape the mount but Campbell keeps good control and instead manages to take Akamai's back.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Campbell is hanging on to Akamai's back as he tries to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Akamai is trying to defend against the choke here but Campbell has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Campbell Tightens the hold and Akamai taps out furiously! Campbell displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Edward Campbell! A very excited looking Edward Campbell made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
