The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hout closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hout lands in his opponent's guard. Hout looking to pass the guard. Hout stands up and waves to Brown to follow him. Brown bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Hout is trying to improve his position. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Brown trying to control the position but Hout is working away. Hout can't do much from the bottom here. Brown wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hout, who protects the arm well. Hout tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brown tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Brown has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Hout could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hout regains half guard there - taking advantage of Brown's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Hout is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hout wants to sweep but Brown has passed to side control! Hout is looking to regain half guard here but Brown keeps moving and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Brown advances to mount. Brown quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Brown but it's paid off an Hout is forced to tap! Nice work by Brown.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Douglas Brown!
