Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcos Alejandro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 25 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Zero! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zero looks for a takedown but Alejandro sprawls well. Alejandro shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Alejandro was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Zero is trying to improve his position. Alejandro tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Zero is looking for a sweep. Alejandro goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Zero has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Alejandro but great work by Zero. Alejandro tries to bench press Zero off him but Zero keeps the position. Zero swings around for an armbar but Alejandro sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Zero's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Zero is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Alejandro is aware though and is defending well. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Zero has his foot on Alejandro's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alejandro works his way back into a safe position though. Zero is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Alejandro defends well. Alejandro is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zero pushes a forearm under Alejandro's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Alejandro is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Max Zero! In his post fight interview, Max Zero started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
