PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Regis Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Leduc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rodriguez has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. The key to victory for Regis Rodriguez has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Regis Rodriguez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Leduc!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Chad Campbell and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Rodriguez is breathing heavily.
Rodriguez needs to keep his hands up - Leduc had a free shot at his head there.


It looks like Regis Rodriguez has been cut.
Regis Rodriguez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A lazy left from Leduc finds it's target.
Rodriguez's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Leduc connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rodriguez scrambles back to his feet.

Leduc cracks Rodriguez with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Leduc has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Rodriguez to stand back up!

Leduc drives through with a powerful takedown. That's hurt Rodriguez!


Rodriguez is rocked!
Leduc engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Oh Rodriguez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Leduc's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Leduc stands up over Rodriguez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Rodriguez seems to have got his legs back now.
Leduc engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Leduc really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rodriguez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Joe Leduc has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Leduc shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rodriguez is trying to defend but Leduc finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Leduc perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Leduc looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Leduc is nestled in close to Rodriguez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Leduc is controlling the pace.

Leduc is taking a breather. Rodriguez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Regis Rodriguez's cut.
That's time! Rodriguez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Rodriguez is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Leduc doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Rodriguez crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Rodriguez's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joe Leduc!
A very excited looking Joe Leduc made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
