Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Alater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Martinez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Alater! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Martinez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Martinez lands a leg kick that knocks Alater off balance momentarily. Martinez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Alater did well to prevent Martinez getting side control. Martinez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Alater trying to control here.
Alater wants to get back to full guard. Alater has a hand on Martinez's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Martinez takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Alater is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position. Alater's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Martinez working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Martinez avoids the attempt from Alater to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Martinez looking to control but Alater is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Alater regains half guard. Martinez prevents Alater from improving his position. Martinez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Martinez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Martinez tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Martinez is looking to take a break and control but Alater is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Tony Martinez wasn't doing enough on the ground. Alater looks to land a combination but Martinez avoids it well. Horrible takedown by Alater or perhaps it was just good defense by Martinez which made him look bad. Alater fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Alater dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Martinez. That did some damage! Alater closes this distance looking for a takedown but Martinez circles away. Tony Martinez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Alater. Alater misses with a few strikes there.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Alater takes a swing at Martinez's ribcage but misses. Martinez shoots in but no luck this time. Alater drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Martinez wants to stand up but Alater is controlling him. Alater content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Martinez is breathing heavily. Martinez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alater gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Martinez is working an open guard so Alater takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Martinez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alater swivels and escapes. Martinez gets caught napping as Alater dives in and scores a takedown. Martinez manages to retain guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Alater pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Martinez is keeping the position for now. Alater stands up from Martinez's guard - Alater perhaps looking for a knockout. Martinez is looking to land body kicks. Alater tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Martinez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Alater shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Martinez is trying to defend but Alater finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Alater perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Alater wants to pass to mount but Martinez is defending the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Alater dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Alater fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Alater moves into range and clinches up with Martinez. Alater ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Alater no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Alater being controlled here, momentarily. Martinez trying to control the position from guard on top but Alater is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Alater wants to sweep here but Martinez controlling him for the moment. Alater preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Martinez wants to control from the top but Alater keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
We're going to have a standup here because Tony Martinez wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Alater changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Martinez tries to avoid it but Alater manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Martinez to the ground. Martinez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Alater throws a sloppy head kick and Martinez moves out of range easily. Tony Martinez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Martinez shoots in for a double leg but Alater sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Martinez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Alater moves into the clinch. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Alater trying to stall but Martinez improves his position.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Martinez. That's going to take a lot out of him. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Martinez just misses with a elbow thrown towards Alater's brow. Alater is looking for a takedown. Alater jumps into guard, dragging Martinez to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Martinez trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Martinez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Alater keeping moving, preventing Martinez from controlling successfully. Alater manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Alater tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Martinez keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Martinez is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Martinez is squirming around, avoiding Alater's attempts to control the action. Martinez tries to lock up and control but Alater gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Alater trying to control but Martinez is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Martinez takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Alater takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Martinez is bucking up trying to escape but Alater cracks him with another couple of good strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Alater lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Martinez tries to hold on but Alater postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nice takedown defense from Alater. No joy for Martinez on that attempt. Martinez ducks under a wild hook from Alater. Alater shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Martinez's guard. Martinez working for a triangle but Alater defends it easily.

Alater slaps away a takedown attempt from Martinez, before circling back to the center of the mat. Alater tries to close the distance and clinch but Martinez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Alater tries a head kick but it misses.

Not particularly brutal. This has been an exciting period of action! Alater is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Alater trying to control the position from guard on top but Martinez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jack Alater hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Martinez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Alater but Alater pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Martinez throws a head kick that misses so Alater counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Alater trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Alater chips away with some ground and pound. Alater is working Martinez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Alater slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Martinez keeping moving, preventing Alater from controlling successfully.

Martinez has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Alater is proving hard to escape from. Martinez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alater has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Martinez has managed to get both his arms back between Alater's legs - danger averted. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Alater is pulling down on Martinez's head to control his posture. Tony Martinez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jack Alater is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Martinez is looking to work some ground and pound but Alater has wrist control.
And that's the end of the fight! Jack Alater comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Alater has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
