Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
24 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diego Faustos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rashad Evans! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The crowd cheers as Evans lands an impressive looking overhand right. Faustos doesn't seem phased though. Faustos throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Evans shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Evans showed some decent athleticism there. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Faustos is trying to stand.
Faustos won't allow Evans to pass to mount. Evans is working for a kimura but Faustos is defending it quite comfortably.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Faustos kicks Evans off and gets back to his feet. Faustos tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Evans paws at him with a jab and circles away. Faustos keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Evans shoots in and gets a takedown into Faustos's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Evans works over Faustos with some ground and pound from guard. Evans postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Evans landing with the ground and pound. Evans tries to free his leg and advance position but Faustos is retaining full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Evans in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Evans content to stall in guard here. Faustos keeping moving, preventing Evans from controlling successfully. Faustos wants to stand and escape but Evans is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Evans trying to control but Faustos is working from the bottom. Evans throws a big elbow that misses. Evans throws a big elbow that misses. Evans loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Evans has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Faustos is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Faustos lands with a left to the head. Evans jumps guard.

Evans has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Faustos should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Evans has tightened it up now! Faustos should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
