Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Richard Lapointe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Richard Lapointe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jordan Watson!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lapointe shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Watson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Lapointe manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Watson on his heels. He'll look to pass Watson's guard now, I'm sure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Lapointe wants to pass the guard but Watson is keeping the position.
Lapointe trying to control the position from guard on top but Watson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lapointe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Richard Lapointe.

The fighters circle momentarily. Watson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Watson is looking to clinch.

Lapointe shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Watson is trying to defend but Lapointe finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Watson is controlling Lapointe's posture.

Lapointe wants to control from the top but Watson keeps moving.

Lapointe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Watson is refusing to be controlled, as Lapointe sits in half guard.

Watson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Watson pushes Lapointe off looking to stand but Lapointe dives back in and keeps control.

Lapointe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Watson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Watson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Lapointe working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Lapointe is taking a breather. Watson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lapointe has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Lapointe stands up and waves to Watson to follow him.
Watson doesn't manage to clinch there - Lapointe circles away.
Watson keeps the fight on the outside.

Lapointe clinches up with Watson and pushes him back against the cage.
Lapointe has Watson pushed against the cage.
Watson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Lapointe creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Lapointe drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lapointe is working for takedown but Watson is calmly controlling the position for now.

Watson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Watson has his takedown stuffed

and Lapointe decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Watson's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lapointe is looking to work some ground and pound but Watson has wrist control.

Watson swats away the attempt to clinch by Lapointe.
Watson moves in looking to clinch but Lapointe pushes him off.

Lapointe shoots in and bounces Watson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Watson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Watson shoots in looking for a takedown but Lapointe manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Watson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

and Watson counters with a low kick, right behind Lapointe 's knee.
Watson throws a sloppy head kick and Lapointe moves out of range easily.
Watson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Watson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Lapointe pushes Watson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Watson doesn't manage to clinch there - Lapointe circles away.

Watson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lapointe tries to clinch there but Watson circles away.

Lapointe has closed the distance and engaged Watson in a clinch.

Watson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lapointe fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lapointe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
