Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tommy Riordan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Cooperman!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Riordan gets a takedown into half guard.
Riordan trying to mount his opponent but Cooperman defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Riordan uses his free foot to push down on Cooperman's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cooperman.

Riordan is working for a guillotine from mount but Cooperman frees his head quite easily.

Riordan working for a submission but Cooperman is keeping him at bay.
Riordan thowing shots but they're missing.

Riordan is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Cooperman to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Cooperman shrugs it off.

Riordan unloads with some shots from mount but Cooperman bucks and avoids them well.
Riordan throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Cooperman defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Riordan.

Riordan looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Cooperman wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Riordan looking to ground and pound but Cooperman is blocking nicely.
Riordan trying to control but Cooperman is having none of it.

Cooperman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Riordan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Riordan throws some wild stikes that Cooperman manages to avoid easily.

Riordan lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Riordan is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cooperman can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Riordan throws some wild stikes that Cooperman manages to avoid easily.

Riordan moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Cooperman has worked his arm free - good work by Cooperman!
Cooperman avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Riordan.
Riordan advances nicely into full mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Riordan has control of Cooperman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cooperman regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Riordan thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Riordan is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Riordan!
