PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fullsize Mirror (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Can't be Touched. Mirror has chosen Ordinary Guy--- Blue Scholars as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Quinton Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fullsize Mirror!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mirror finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Jackson wants to clinch
and Mirror connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jackson checks a leg kick.
A swing and a miss from Jackson.
A good leg kick by Mirror.
Jackson misses with a hook
and Mirror counters with a nice low kick that buckles Jackson's knee momentarily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jackson. Mirror does a little dance to reset his feet.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Jackson, as that shot connected.
Jackson scores with a shot to the body.

Mirror closes the distance and pushes Jackson back into the cage.
Jackson tries to work over Mirror's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Mirror misses with a hook from the clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jackson works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Mirror looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Mirror working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mirror avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Mirror is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Jackson is looking for a kimura but Mirror is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jackson to get the leverage.
Jackson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Jackson is looking to take a break and control but Mirror is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mirror makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mirror.

Mirror has his foot on Jackson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jackson works his way back into a safe position though.
Jackson lands a couple of digs.
Jackson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mirror looking for a guillotine here but Jackson defends easily.

Mirror keeping full guard, as Jackson tries to pass.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Jackson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mirror throws a body punch but Jackson moves out of range.
Jackson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mirror.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jackson.
Mirror misses with a body shot.
Jackson misses with a few strikes there.
Mirror is looking to slow Jackson down with leg kicks.
Mirror misses with a lunging right hand
and Jackson counters with a right hand to the body.
Jackson scores with a hook.
Jackson throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Jackson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Jackson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mirror's waist but Mirror gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jackson off to one side.
Mirror stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Jackson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mirror doesn't seem bothered though.
Jackson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mirror circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quinton Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mirror scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Mirror ducks right into an uppercut from Jackson.
Jackson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jackson tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Mirror scores with a jab to the body.
Mirror waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Jackson.
Mirror slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jackson misses with a looping right.
Jackson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mirror tries to avoid it but Jackson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mirror to the ground. Mirror escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Mirror is holding on to half guard well.
Jackson looks to land a strike but Mirror avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Mirror keeps moving.
Jackson cracks Mirror with a solid left hand.

Mirror has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mirror working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Jackson has passed into half guard!

Jackson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Jackson thows a huge punch but Mirror dodges it nicely.

Mirror is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jackson scores with a couple of nice shots.
Mirror is not content to let Jackson control the position.
Jackson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Jackson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mirror doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jackson.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinton Jackson dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Jackson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A head punch on the inside from Jackson fails to land.
Mirror swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Mirror scores with a shoulder strike.
Jackson misses with a punch on the inside.
Jackson doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Mirror has a couple of punches blocked by Jackson.

Mirror manages to break the clinch.
Jackson misses with a straight right.
Jackson fails in his attempt to clinch.
Mirror throws a leg kick

and Jackson counters with a single leg into guard. Mirror didn't expect that.
Jackson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jackson's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Jackson has gone for a leg lock! Mirror slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jackson's guard.
Quinton Jackson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Mirror stopping the sweep attempt from Jackson.
Mirror wants to stand but Jackson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Jackson looking for subs off his back but Mirror has passed one foot through into half guard.
Jackson tries to roll over but Mirror keeps him under control.
Fullsize Mirror has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jackson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Mirror wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.
Mirror seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Jackson has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Mirror has passed into side control.

Mirror decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Jackson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mirror backs up against the cage.
Mirror misses with the combination.
Mirror swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mirror wants to clinch up but Jackson keeps it at a distance.
Mirror staying out of range there.
Jackson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mirror.
Jackson lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Jackson closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mirror's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mirror utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jackson with a nice head shot there.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jackson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
