PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yngwie Wynsten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fat Man Mendoza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wynsten's entrance music is Over The Rainbow. A fine choice. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yngwie Wynsten!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fat Man Mendoza!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wynsten changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mendoza tries to avoid it but Wynsten manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mendoza to the ground. Mendoza escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Wynsten shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Wynsten looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Wynsten is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendoza tries to get to full guard but Wynsten has control of the leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wynsten thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mendoza's head.
Mendoza controlling the position for now.

Wynsten seems to be looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mendoza trying to control here.
Wynsten wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mendoza keeps working.
Mendoza keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Mendoza really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wynsten. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wynsten is trying to control. Mendoza wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Wynsten looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Mendoza stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yngwie Wynsten. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mendoza decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wynsten is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Wynsten regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Mendoza.
Mendoza postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Mendoza looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Mendoza slips a nice elbow through Wynsten's hands, connecting with Wynsten's forehead.
Mendoza scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Mendoza seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wynsten does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Mendoza looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Wynsten has hold of Mendoza's hands but Mendoza slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Mendoza working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Mendoza working over Wynsten with some ground and pound. Wynsten looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Mendoza seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Wynsten is rocked!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mendoza frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Oh Wynsten is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mendoza softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Wynsten is out cold! Mendoza jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Fat Man Mendoza!
