These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koshcheck connects with a jab.
Akiyama darts in trying to clinch
and Koshcheck counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Akiyama takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Koshcheck throws a right and a left that both miss.
Akiyama closes this distance looking for a takedown but Koshcheck circles away.
Akiyama takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Koshcheck misses with a body shot.
Koshcheck jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Akiyama is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Koshcheck's half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Akiyama is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Koshcheck is looking to control Akiyama's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Koshcheck avoid being mounted?
