PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Raider (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Charack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ricky Raider!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Charack!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Raider has taken the fight to the clinch.
Raider drops down looking for an ankle pick but Charack pulls his leg out and moves away.
Charack shoots in but Raider avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Raider tries to clinch there but Charack circles away.
Raider shoots in and drives through. Charack sprawls well.
Charack blocks a head kick by Raider.
Raider tries to clinch but Charack moves out of range.
Raider avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Raider has taken the fight to the clinch.
Raider is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Charack pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricky Raider. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Raider breaks from the clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Raider closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Charack to the mat! Charack manages to get full guard.
Charack looks gassed!
Raider wants to stand and escape but instead Charack has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Charack won't allow Raider to sweep him here.
Raider can't keep his opponent in guard - Charack advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Raider is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Raider regains full guard. Nicely done.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Raider is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Raider uses his free foot to push down on Charack's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Charack.
Raider tries to control but Charack wriggling away.
Raider is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Charack can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Charack takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Raider working for a guillotine from mount but Charack is in no mood to give up.
Charack sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Charack tries to kick Raider off but Raider keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Raider is thwarting Charack's attempts to control the position.
Charack is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Charack moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Charack working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Raider doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Raider manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Charack is working an open guard so Raider takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Raider fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Charack, pushing him back against the ropes.
Raider avoiding damage as Charack throws knees to the body.
Raider lands a nice uppercut.
Charack gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Raider.
Raider looking for a takedown.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Charack pulls guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Raider tries to free his leg and advance position but Charack is retaining full guard.
Raider sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Charack's guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Raider looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Charack is pressing down on Raider's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Charack working a defensive guard here.
Charack wants to get back to his feet but Raider is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Raider stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Raider scores with a punch to the head.
Raider tries to clinch but Charack is having none of it.
Raider with a jab.
Raider bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Charack's head backwards.

Charack closes the distance and clinches.
Charack tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Raider just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Raider tries to score a body lock takedown but Charack shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Charack wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Raider has him pressed against the ropes.

Raider breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Charack instigates a clinch.

Charack manages to break the clinch.
Raider tries to close the distance and clinch up but Charack swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Charack tries a head kick but it misses.
Charack throws a right hand that Raider ducks under and follows up with a left that Raider also avoids with ease.
Nice uppercut there from Raider.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Raider shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Raider clinches with his opponent.
Raider tries to pull guard but Charack holds him up against the ropes and eventually Raider drops back down to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ricky Raider dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Raider lands with an uppercut that bounces Charack off the ropes and back into rage.
Raider darts in trying to clinch

so Charack counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Raider lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Charack!
Charack tries to hold on but Raider pushes him away.
Raider moves to the back position.
Charack staying busy and making it hard for Raider to control.
Charack trying to get back to his feet but Raider is in full control for now.
Raider avoiding Charack 's attempts to control his hands.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Raider has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Charack is in real trouble here. Raider gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Charack is tapping out! Raider wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ricky Raider!
