Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Peter Beardsley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Obi Wan King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Police On My Back. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Beardsley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Obi Wan King!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Beardsley is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked King off and has taken his back!

Beardsley is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

King has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
King swings away with a leg kick that misses.
King moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

King clinches.

King breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
King is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

King clinches up with Beardsley and pushes him back against the cage.
King scores with a nice hook to the head.
King lands a body punch in the clinch.
Beardsley fails to pull the fight into his guard.

King breaks the clinch.
Beardsley has his takedown stuffed
and King counters with a body kick.
King tries to clinch up but Beardsley circles away and keeps his distance.
King works Beardsley's body with a nice hook.
King moves in looking to clinch but Beardsley pushes him off.

King shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Beardsley's guard.

Beardsley looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Beardsley wants to sweep here but King controlling him for the moment.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

King gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

King gets control of Beardsley's arms and successfully pulls guard. King will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
King is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Beardsley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. King swivels though and keeps the full guard.
King wants to stand up but Beardsley is controlling him.

Beardsley drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but King manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Beardsley has King in his guard.

Beardsley is trying to control the position from the bottom.
King won't allow Beardsley to sweep him here.
Beardsley is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King wants to improve his position but Beardsley is controlling well.

King is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Beardsley has gone for a leg lock! King slips out almost immediately though and dives into Beardsley's guard.

King slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Peter Beardsley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Beardsley is looking for a triangle but King pushes his legs off easily.
King must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

King looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Beardsley!

King decides to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Obi Wan King showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

King tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Beardsley counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

King feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Beardsley dives in and grabs King's left leg, looking for a takedown. King pushes down on Beardsley's head and hops out.

King lands a jab-cross combination.
Obi Wan King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

King moves out of range as Beardsley strikes.

King drives through and clinches with Beardsley against the cage.

King has picked Beardsley up - he's going for a ride! King dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
King tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Beardsley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. King is working away from the top position though.

Beardsley won't allow King to pass to mount.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Peter Beardsley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Obi Wan King is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Obi Wan King wasn't active enough on the ground.
Beardsley gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and King counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Beardsley throws a lazy right hand but King sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

King gets in close and instigates a clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
Obi Wan King comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well King has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
