Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dion Van Helvoit! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Annan Molli! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Andrew Berry and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Molli shoots in for a takedown but Van Helvoit shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Molli closes the distance and pushes Van Helvoit back into the cage. Molli tries to score a body lock takedown but Van Helvoit shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Van Helvoit is trying to stall.
Nice body punch from Molli - that landed with a thud.
Molli wants to take the fight to the mat but Van Helvoit manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Dion Van Helvoit has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Annan Molli. Molli looking for a takedown. Van Helvoit has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head and Molli goes down! Van Helvoit dives on top of him - Molli manages to get guard.
Molli is rocked!
It looks like Annan Molli has been cut. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Van Helvoit wants to stand but Molli is controlling his posture from full guard. Molli is still in real trouble! Can Van Helvoit finish him? Molli throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Van Helvoit wanted to stand there but Molli had control of the position. Molli has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Molli wants to sweep here but Van Helvoit controlling him for the moment. Van Helvoit wants to stand but Molli has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Molli controls Van Helvoit momentarily but Van Helvoit frees himself.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Van Helvoit has closed the distance and engaged Molli in a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Van Helvoit pushes Molli back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Van Helvoit takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. A right handed body shot lands from Van Helvoit.
Van Helvoit lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Van Helvoit jerks Molli's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Molli drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Van Helvoit goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Van Helvoit because Molli was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Dion Van Helvoit!
