Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dr Pepper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mirko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dr Pepper could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Frank Mirko's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pepper looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Mirko lands with an uppercut that bounces Pepper off the cage and back into range.
Mirko does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Mirko misses with a low kick.
Mirko misses the shot to the body.
Mirko lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pepper circles away quickly and effectively.

Mirko gets caught flat footed, as Pepper shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mirko is looking to stand up but Pepper isn't so interested in that idea.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dr Pepper just wasn't active enough.

Pepper shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mirko is trying to defend but Pepper finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Pepper thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Mirko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pepper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pepper has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Mirko has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Pepper is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Mirko with him. Mirko is trying to defend but Pepper has an arm under the chin now! Mirko grimaces and is forced to tap out!
