Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Slater Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gusav Wasa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas comes into the arena with "Fight Music" by D12 blaring out of the sound system. Slater Thomas had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 206.4lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Gusav Wasa will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gusav Wasa! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wasa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Thomas clinches with his opponent.
A short uppercut from Thomas. Thomas works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Thomas has a takedown stuffed. Thomas throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Thomas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wasa pinned against the cage. Wasa is fighting off a takedown attempt but Thomas is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Wasa to the mat. Wasa regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Wasa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thomas is one step ahead there. Thomas controlling from the top position. Thomas wants to stand but Wasa is controlling his posture from full guard. Thomas stands up from Wasa's guard - Thomas perhaps looking for a knockout. Wasa fails to land the takedown.

Wasa has had enough of the clinch but Thomas keeps him there for the moment. Thomas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wasa throws out a loose jab but Thomas uses good head movement to avoid it. Thomas throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Wasa's head. Thomas feints and as Wasa raises his hands in defense, Thomas changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Wasa looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Thomas not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wasa is on top in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Wasa in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Wasa wants to stand and escape but instead Thomas has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Slater Thomas dominated that round. That's time! Thomas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

That's one minute gone in the round. Wasa is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Thomas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Thomas has escaped and now he's on top! Wasa uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Thomas swings for the body but Wasa moves out of range.
Wasa's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Wasa duly obliges.
Thomas is rocked! Thomas tries a head kick but it misses.
Oh Thomas is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Thomas misses with a takedown attempt - Wasa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Thomas seems to have got his legs back now. Slater Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wasa shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Thomas pinned against the cage. Thomas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Wasa is looking to clinch.

The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Thomas looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Thomas!

and Wasa counters with a one-two to the body. Wasa shoots in and drives through. Thomas sprawls well. Thomas misses with a takedown attempt - Wasa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Thomas instigates a clinch. Slater Thomas is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Thomas.

Slater Thomas dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Wasa is pressing down on Thomas's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Thomas stopping the sweep attempt from Wasa. Wasa is looking to stand up but Thomas isn't so interested in that idea. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Thomas postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wasa punching from the bottom - just letting Thomas know he's still in a fight. Thomas preventing the sweep. Wasa throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Thomas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wasa on the ground.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Thomas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Thomas drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Slater Thomas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Thomas is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Thomas has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Wasa wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Thomas is now in half guard. Thomas wants to free his trapped foot but Wasa is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thomas perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Thomas prevents Wasa from improving his position. Thomas blocks the strikes from Wasa.
Wasa pushes Thomas off looking to stand but Thomas dives back in and keeps control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Wasa has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Thomas is proving hard to escape from. Thomas keeping moving, preventing Wasa from controlling successfully. Wasa tries to free his leg and advance position but Thomas is retaining full guard. Wasa postures up in Thomas's guard and throws a big left but Thomas blocks it. Wasa makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Wasa passes Thomas's left leg - he's now in half guard. Wasa is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Thomas is just riding it out for now. Wasa eventually gives up the hold. Wasa performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Thomas tries to get to full guard but Wasa has control of the leg. Wasa wants to take a breather but Thomas is having none of it. Thomas wants to control but Wasa is keeping busy.
Thomas is controlling Wasa's trapped leg to prevent Wasa from advancing to side control. Thomas wants to control but Wasa is keeping busy and won't allow it. Gusav Wasa has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Thomas has one foot on Wasa's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Wasa displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Wasa dodges the punch combination from Thomas.
And that's the end of the fight! Slater Thomas showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Thomas, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
