Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Landen Connell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taran Widow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Connell comes into the arena with Ain't No Rest for The Wicked blaring out of the sound system. Landen Connell could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Taran Widow's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connell avoids the head kick by Widow.
Connell keeps the fight on the outside.
Widow looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Connell looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Widow is fending him off so far but Connell persists. Nope, Widow circles away and we're back to standing.

Connell lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

and Connell counters with a stiff right hand.

Connell is trying to break free.
Widow drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Widow pushes down on Connell's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Widow is just content to waste time from the top position. Connell takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Widow drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Widow jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Connell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Widow on the ground.
Widow is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Connell is trying to buck Widow off.
Widow is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Connell is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Widow lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Widow has control of Connell's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Connell regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Connell's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
