Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, Paul Potts! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Hugo Frazier! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Donald Grub and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown by Frazier or perhaps it was just good defense by Potts which made him look bad. Potts tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Frazier paws at him with a jab and circles away. Potts closes the distance and clinches. Potts throws an elbow but it misses.
Frazier wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Frazier can't break the clinch.
Frazier is looking to break free of the clinch but Potts has double underhooks. Frazier wants a takedown.
Potts tries to stall but Frazier uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Potts. Frazier breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Potts tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Frazier paws at him with a jab and circles away. Potts shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Frazier counters with a nice leg kick. Potts chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Frazier can pounce on him.
Potts misses with a head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Potts misses with an attempted mid kick.
Potts tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Frazier takes a swing at Potts's ribcage but misses. Paul Potts seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Potts drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Potts trying to control but Frazier is working from the bottom. Frazier wants to stand and escape but Potts is having none of it. Potts wants to control from the top but Frazier keeps moving. Potts wants to pass the guard but Frazier is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Potts wants to control from the top but Frazier keeps moving.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Potts shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Frazier counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Frazier. Potts has a closed guard, preventing Frazier from standing up. Potts trying to control the position here. Potts is looking for a triangle but Frazier pushes his legs off easily.
Potts looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Frazier is looking to stand up but Potts won't let him. Frazier looks gassed!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Potts is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Frazier throwing strikes but missing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Potts controls Frazier momentarily but Frazier frees himself. Potts wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Potts looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Potts had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Frazier is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Potts Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Frazier's back instead. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Potts has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Frazier is in real trouble here. Potts gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Frazier is tapping out! Potts wins by rear naked choke!
