Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Akira Ito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Xunga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xunga has chosen Puritania \m/ as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ito shoots in but no luck this time.
Xunga closes the distance and clinches up with Ito, looking for a takedown. Xunga pushes Ito against the cage but Ito circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Xunga misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Xunga is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ito sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Xunga is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Xunga is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Ito has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Xunga can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Xunga is trying to hold Ito in close to prevent damage but Ito has managed to pass into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ito in particular looking to stall.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ito seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Xunga does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That was a close round but I would say that Akira Ito will probably get the nod.

Xunga tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Xunga has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Xunga is looking to take a break and control but Ito is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Xunga decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ito to his feet.
Ito shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Xunga pinned against the cage. Xunga gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ito rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Xunga moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Xunga jabs Ito right on the nose. Ito blinks but takes it well.
Ito throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Xunga's waist but Xunga gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ito off to one side.

Tony Xunga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Xunga leaves Ito with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Ito sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Xunga's guard.

Xunga really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ito. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ito uses his free foot to push down on Xunga's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Xunga.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ito thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Xunga tries to hold on but Ito pushes him away.
Ito is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Xunga can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Xunga is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

Xunga holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Ito tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Xunga tries to control Ito's body but Ito pushes him off. Xunga squirms to his side and now Ito has his back!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Akira Ito.
I think Ito has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
