Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Robert Szumilas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyson Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyson Mendes will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robert Szumilas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tyson Mendes! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendes gets the takedown into side control. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Szumilas is looking for a sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Szumilas is working hard here to advance position. Mendes creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Szumilas sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Mendes cracks Szumilas with a big elbow. Szumilas stops Mendes from passing to mount. Szumilas is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Mendes is working Szumilas over with some ground and pound from side control. Mendes is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Szumilas's shoulder. That is not cool. Mendes is putting a hurting on Szumilas here, landing some big shots from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Szumilas is not content to let Mendes control the position. Szumilas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Szumilas is trying to control Mendes's posture but Mendes avoids it. Mendes trying to control the position but Szumilas is working away. Mendes cracks Szumilas with a big elbow. Mendes sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Szumilas is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendes in side control lands a decent elbow. Mendes is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Szumilas's shoulder. That is not cool. Mendes scores with a couple of short elbows. Mendes controls the position. Mendes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mendes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Szumilas keeps working. Szumilas prevents Mendes from moving into mount. Mendes sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Szumilas is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Szumilas is trying to escape the position but Mendes is controlling the position. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mendes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Szumilas keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendes throwing shots but missing, from side control. Mendes landing strikes. Mendes working the ground and pound. Szumilas is working to avoid the ground and pound but Mendes connects with a decent elbow. Mendes trying to control the action but Szumilas is working from the bottom. Mendes tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendes scores with punches from side control. Mendes working the head with strikes. Mendes controlling the position from side mount. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mendes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Szumilas keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyson Mendes dominated that round. That's time! Szumilas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Szumilas fails with a takedown attempt. Mendes shoots in and gets a takedown into Szumilas's guard. Mendes trying to control the position from guard on top but Szumilas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Szumilas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mendes controls the pace. Tyson Mendes has got the better of the ground game so far. Szumilas utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Szumilas keeping moving, preventing Mendes from controlling successfully. Mendes controls from within his opponent's guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Tyson Mendes. Mendes shoots in and gets a takedown into Szumilas's guard. Mendes cracks Szumilas with a solid left hand. Mendes scoring with some ground and pound. Mendes trying to control but Szumilas is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendes looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Szumilas is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mendes is controlling him. Mendes throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Mendes keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Szumilas's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Szumilas keeping moving, preventing Mendes from controlling successfully. Mendes advances position into side control! Mendes tries to advance to mount but Szumilas instead regains half guard. Szumilas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Szumilas tries to get out of the position. Mendes keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Szumilas avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mendes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Szumilas wants to control but Mendes is keeping busy and won't allow it. Mendes thows a huge punch but Szumilas dodges it nicely.
Mendes trying to control the action but Szumilas is working from the bottom. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mendes scoring with strikes to the body and head. Mendes is controlling the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tyson Mendes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Mendes closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mendes lands in his opponent's guard. Szumilas keeping moving, preventing Mendes from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendes missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Szumilas preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Mendes wants to control from the top but Szumilas keeps moving. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Tyson Mendes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Szumilas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mendes tries to avoid it but Szumilas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mendes to the ground. Mendes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Mendes has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Nice takedown defense from Mendes. No joy for Szumilas on that attempt. Mendes fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Mendes is looking to take a break and control but Szumilas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The referee asks Mendes politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Mendes prefers to stall for the moment though. Mendes working the ground and pound. Szumilas regains half guard there - taking advantage of Mendes's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Szumilas keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendes performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Tyson Mendes is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendes looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Szumilas tries to kick Mendes off but Mendes keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Tyson Mendes was stalling too much, according to the referee. Horrible takedown by Mendes or perhaps it was just good defense by Szumilas which made him look bad. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mendes is defended easily by Szumilas. Robert Szumilas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mendes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Szumilas sprawls well initially but Mendes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Tyson Mendes comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Mendes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
